MINZEL REPEATS, TOPS DUFFY & MORRISON IN PLAY-OFF

Fremont - Defending champion, Travis Minzel of Lincoln held on Sunday to win the 13th Nebraska Mid-Amateur following a play-off with Patrick Duffy and Trent Morrison, both of Omaha.

Paired together in the final group, the trio finished the 36-hole championship at 1-over par 143. Duffy and Morrison each shot even par 71's, Minzel 75. Duffy was bounced on the 2nd extra hole when both Minzel and Morrison made birdie. Minzel then won with another birdie on the par 3 4th hole.

The state championship is Minzel's fourth. He teamed with Scott Tridle of Lincoln to win the Four-Ball in May and was the State Match Play champion in 2004. In net action, Jason Seaman of Omaha was the net winner by 6 strokes. Bennett Ginsberg of Omaha was runner-up.
