JONES WINS FIRST SENIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Eagle - Knox Jones of Lincoln won the 13th Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship Tuesday by five shots over 2006 champion, Mike Krumland of Columbus. Another past champion, John Haney of Lincoln (2005), finished third, seven strokes back of Jones.

Jones was competing in his second senior amateur championship. He finished runner-up in 2010 following a play-off defeat to David Clouse of Friend. The state title is the Nebraska golf hall-of-famer's ninth. He previously has won three state match play championships, one state amateur, three state Four-Ball crowns and a junior amateur.

Haney was recognized as champion in the 58-64 age division and Roger Harms of Grand Island won his 6th consecutive 65+ trophy.
