CLOUSE TOPS JONES FOR SENIOR AMATEUR TITLE

Nebraska City - After falling into a play-off by bogeying the 18th hole at ArborLinks Wednesday, David Clouse of Friend birdied the same hole in a play-off a short time later to top Knox Jones of Lincoln for the Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship. Both golfers finished regulation tied at 1-over par 145 forcing the extra holes. First round leader, Ed Person of Omaha was third at 3-over par 147.

The senior title is a first for Clouse who previously had won state match play, stroke play and mid-amateur championships. A back injury had sidelined the banker for most of the last nine seasons making victory a tad bit sweeter.

Steve Redlin of Omaha (58-64) and Roger Harms of Grand Island (65 & older) were champions of their respective divisions. Net winners were also recognized in those same categories as well as the 50-57 age bracket.
