Reinertson and Christianson Junior Amateur Golfers of the Year

Omaha, NE - The Nebraska Junior Golf Association (NJGA) is proud to announce the selection of the 2008 Nebraska Junior Amateur Players of the Year. Josh Reinertson, a junior at Gibbon High School, is the boy’s recipient, Armana Christianson of Omaha, a freshman at Creighton University, is the girl’s recipient.

Reinertson claimed his first junior association state championship in June when he won the Nebraska Junior Match Play Championship at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg. The following week he advanced to the finals of the Nebraska Match Play Championship finishing runner-up to Brandon Crick of McCook. In addition to his match play success, Reinertson was runner-up last spring at the Class C1 state high school championship, tied for 6th at the Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship, tied for 5th at the Ironwood Classic, and tied for 2nd at the American Junior Golf Association's (AJGA) John Deere Classic Junior Open at Glynns Creek Golf Course in Long Grove, Iowa.

Reinertson was a member of both the Nebraska Junior Cup Team that defeated Kansas in August and the Nebraska Directors Cup Team that competed against men's teams from Iowa and Kansas in October. Most recently Reinertson was selected to the Nebraska Junior Golf Association’s 2008 All-Star Team.

Christianson also won her first junior association state championship in June capturing the Nebraska Girl’s Match Play Championship at York Country Club. That victory was preceded by a win in the fall of 2007 at the Class A state high school championship where the Millard North senior set the NSAA's 36-hole scoring record of 143. Christianson finished tied for 3rd at both the Nebraska Girls' Amateur Championship and the Nebraska PGA Junior Championship, she was runner-up at the state Big I, finished 5th at NWAGA's Stroke Play Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of their Match Play Championship.

In addition, Christianson competed in June on NWAGA's junior select team in the Four-State Team competition and most recently was selected to the Nebraska Junior Golf Association’s 2008 All-Star Team. A member of the women's golf team at Creighton University, Christianson has competed in all five tournaments this fall for the Jays finishing as the team's low individual twice.

Both golfers will be honored at the Nebraska Golf Association's Fall Awards Banquet, which will take place Friday, November 7, at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln. In addition, the NGA will recognize its Nebraska Amateur Player of the Year, the Women’s Amateur Golfer of the Year and each of the 2008 amateur golf champions.

The Nebraska Golf Association, founded in 1966, conducts the state's amateur golf championships, governs its member clubs, and serves as the handicapping and course rating authority for its members and its member clubs. The NGA has 26,000 members and 165 member clubs.
