Brueggemann is Amateur Golfer of the Year

Omaha, NE - The Nebraska Golf Association (NGA) is proud to announce Jayson Brueggemann of Lincoln as recipient of its’ 2008 Nebraska Amateur Player of the Year award.

Brueggemann claimed his first state championship last July winning the 100th Nebraska Amateur Championship at The Country Club of Lincoln. He almost claimed his second state title at Omaha’s Player’s Club in September finishing runner-up at the Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship to David Ping of Omaha. Brueggemann held a two up lead with two holes to play in the event’s 18-hole final match before eventually falling in 20 Holes.

In addition to his success in NGA events, Brueggemann finished runner-up in the amateur portion of the Nebraska Open and in the Columbus Classic, both played at Columbus Elks Country Club. He qualified for match play in the Trans-Miss played at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, IA advancing to the second round and was a member of the NGA squad that competed against teams from Iowa and Kansas in the Directors Cup matches at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence, KS.

The 37-year old Brueggemann is a an athletic trainer for Nebraska Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. He'll receive his award November 7th at the Nebraska Golf Association's Fall Awards Banquet. In addition, the NGA will recognize the Boy’s and Girl’s Junior Amateur Golfers of the Year, the Women’s Amateur Golfer of the Year and each of the 2008 amateur golf champions.

The Nebraska Golf Association, founded in 1966, conducts the state's amateur golf championships, governs its member clubs, and serves as the handicapping course rating authority for its members and its member clubs. The NGA has 26,000 members and 165 member clubs.
