Active Golf Season Extended, Revisions Now on Wednesday

Omaha, NE - The NGA has announced the extension of the active golf season and a day change in the member Handicap Index revisions.

The active golf season for NGA members just got a little longer – which means more opportunities to post rounds played in late fall.

The active season, beginning this year, runs from March 19 until Nov. 11. Previously, the season ended in late October.

“Nebraska weather often allows our members to play golf well into November, and we thought our active golf season should reflect that fact,” said Justin Ahrens, NGA assistant executive director.

The NGA, under the USGA Handicap System, is required to establish dates for when rounds of golf are posted under “normal course conditions,” the standard by which the association rates golf courses.

USGA Handicap Indexes will now be revised by the Nebraska Golf Association on Wednesdays instead of Fridays.

Member clubs now will transmit scores on Tuesdays, with revisions released on Wednesdays. The change will prevent NGA members, who wish to participate in events beginning on Fridays, to wait for their revised handicaps, said Justin Ahrens, NGA assistant executive director.

The NGA will continue to provide 13 handicap revisions to its members throughout the golf season.

The Nebraska Golf Association, founded in 1966, conducts the state's amateur golf championships, governs its member clubs, and serves as the handicapping and course rating authority for its members and its member clubs. The NGA has 26,000 members and 165 member clubs.
