The Nebraska Cup Matches pit the top twelve amateur golfers in the state against the Nebraska Section of the PGA's top twelve professionals. The event feature's both Four-Ball and Singles matches in a Nassau-style scoring competition.

Last season the Nebraska PGA won the 2011 Nebraska Cup Matches by 1 point at Norfolk Country Club. After claiming a slight lead (19-17) following the morning Four-Ball session at Norfolk Country Club, the amateur squad was overcome for a second straight year in afternoon singles to be defeated by the Nebraska PGA (36.5, 35.5).

Andy Sajevic of Fremont, led the amateur squad sweeping both his matches. He teamed with his father, John, to defeat Kevin Sullivan (Bellevue) & Chris Wiemers (Happy Hollow Club, Omaha) and then topped Shane Zywiec (Highlands Golf Course, Lincoln) in singles play.

The selection of the Nebraska Cup Team is based upon the final NGA point standings of the previous year. Those golfers ranked in the top ten qualify for the team. The Nebraska Golf Association Board of Directors has granted the NGA Tournament Committee the right to select the remainder of the team, including replacements for qualifiers.

The NGA trails the overall series 22-17.
