This goodwill competition is staged every other year opposite the USGA's Men's State Team Championship and consists of round-robin Four-Ball, Foursomes and Singles matches. The home team has won each of the four competitions held beginning in 2000.

The next Directors Cup will be hosted by the Iowa Golf Association. Because the USGA has ameded their Men's State Team Championship schedule to include tournaments in both 2009 & 2010, the Directors Cup will next be contested in 2011.
