2023 NebGolf Junior All-Star Team Announced

Karmazin, Gutschewski and Mittag Headline All-Stars

OMAHA (November 20, 2023) - The Nebraska Golf Association’s 2023 Junior All-Star Team has been announced and includes team captains Julia Karmazin of Omaha, Trevor Gutschewski of Omaha and Coltrane Mittag of Ashland.

Members were selected based upon their performance in state and/or national tournaments and select team events this past season. In addition, other criteria considered include a player’s integrity and conduct both on and off the golf course.

Members of the 2023 team include:

Coltrane Mittag, Ashland* Eden Larson, Lincoln
Beau Petersen, Gretna Madison Murnan, Omaha
Connor Steichen, Omaha

Kolbas ties a record with her fifth all-star selection, matching Wahoo's Hannah and Haley Thiele, and Doniphan’s Danielle Lemek. The Lincoln Pius X graduate is now playing golf at Indiana University. Julia Karmazin of Omaha, is the only other returner from last year's team on the girls' side, which she also captained. The 2023 Nebraska Girls' Amateur Champion is a senior at Elkhorn North High School. Isabella Elgert of Lincoln, Eden Larson of Lincoln and Madison Murnan of Omaha are all first-time selections.

Three players return on the boys' side for a second selection, including captain Trevor Gutschewski of Elkhorn, who finished as the Low Junior at the 2023 Nebraska Amateur. Last year's captain, Thomas Bryson of Lincoln, returns along with Omaha's Jackson Benge. Bryson is a junior at Lincoln Southeast, while Benge, a senior, and Gutschewski, a junior, both attend Omaha Westside. Ashland's Coltrane Mittag, a co-captain, had an incredible year on the national stage, including an unprecedented win at the North & South Junior at Pinehurst. Mittag, who is homeschooled and in the class of 2026, is a first-time selection. Beau Petersen of Gretna, the 2023 Nebraska Junior Amateur Champion, also earns his first selection. He's a senior at Gretna High School. Omaha's Connor Steichen earns his second selection, after making the 2021 team and missing last year's squad. Steichen is a senior at Creighton Prep.

The Nebraska Golf Association (NebGolf), founded in 1966, is comprised of all members of public and private clubs and/or municipal or regional golf associations which utilize an approved handicap service recognized by the USGA and provided by NebGolf.
