Honnens, Morrison to Play for 103rd Nebraska Women's Match Play Title
Quarterfinals and Semifinals Conducted Wednesday at York Country Club
YORK (July 22, 2026) - Lincoln's Elly Honnens and North Platte's Karsen Morrison will play in the Final of the 103rd Nebraska Women’s Match Play Championship, after advancing on Wednesday at York Country Club.
One player will win their first NebGolf title on Thursday, following the 18-hole Championship Final. Honnens, a Omaha Maverick, and Morrison, a Creighton Bluejay will tee off at 8 a.m. to decide the champion.
Honnens defeated Omaha teammate Emily Karmazin of Omaha in the Quarterfinals Wednesday morning, in the longest match of the championship. Karmazin won the 16th and 17th holes to take a 1-up lead, but Honnens won the 18th to force extra holes. Three extra holes later, Honnens triumphed in 21 holes with a par on No. 3.
In the Semifinals, Honnens faced Macy Jorgensen of Minden, who had just upset the No. 1 seed Brooke Thiele of Wahoo, 3 and 2, in the Quarterfinals. Her older sister, KayLynn Jorgensen, just two weeks earlier defeated Thiele in the Final of the Nebraska Girls' Match Play to take the title.
Honnens made up for the long morning match, cruising to win in just 14 holes over Jorgensen. She made the turn 2 up, and won three of the next five holes on the back nine to close out the match, 5 and 4.
On the other side of the bracket, Morrison faced a similar path to the Final. She had to battle through 19 holes to defeat Creighton teammate Madison Murnan of Omaha. Murnan also tied the match late on No. 17, but Morrison took the first extra hole with a par to win the match.
Morrison went on to face two-time Champion Katie Ruge of Omaha in the Semifinals. She also jumped out to a hot start though and never looked back. Morrison won two of the first four holes, and a birdie-par start on the back nine moved her to 3 up.
Ruge won the 14th hole, but Morrison answered with a win on the 15th hole, and a par on No. 16 closed out the match, 3 and 2.
