Nebraska Wesleyan's Schram and Wayne State's Kenkel Take Individual Crowns
FREMONT (October 7, 2025) - The home team once again took the men's title, with Midland University finishing on top, while Wayne State College won the women's title at the 2025 Nebraska Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Fremont Golf Club.
It's the third title for Wayne State, which also won the 2021 and 2022 Nebraska Intercollegiates. The Wildcats cruised to the win by 32 strokes with a 622 (+54) total, and all five players finished inside the top six individually.
Midland won its second title, and first since 2015, at its home course. The Warriors went wire-to-wire, but had to finish strong after briefly losing their lead. They outpaced a pair of contending teams to win by five strokes with a 581 (+13) total.
After taking an impressive 10-stroke lead after a first round 288 (+4), which included a pair of teammates tied for the individual lead, Midland posted a final round 293 (+9) to secure the victory.
A pair of playoffs decided the individual races, as Wayne State teammates Hailey Kenkel and Gaia Stancikova finished tied atop the women's leaderboard at 153 (+11). Kenkel mounted an incredible comeback with the lowest round in the short history of the women's Nebraska Intercollegiate, a 71 (E). She then birdied the second playoff hole (No. 17) to take the title, with Stancikova taking runner-up honors.
On the men's side, Nebraska Wesleyan University's Brayden Schram and Doane University's Cauy Walters each caught fire to post two of the best rounds in Nebraska Intercollegiate history. In fact, Walters' 65 (-6) is the lowest score ever in the tournament, while Schram shot just the third 66 in the event. They tied at 138 (-4), which is also a Intercollegiate record, with Schram making birdie on the second playoff hole as well to win the title.
Midland teammates and first round leaders Brady Davis and Trevin Cunningham tied for third with Nick Fleming of Southeast Community College at 142 (E). Davis and Cunningham both shot 70 (-1) on Monday to tie for the overnight lead, and help the Warriors to the team lead. Both shot rounds of 72 (+1) to finish in a tie with Fleming, who posted the third-best round of the day, a 68 (-3).
Three players tied for sixth at 146 (+4), including Josh Chapman of Hastings College, Tate Redinger of Southeast Community College and Janlo Zaayman of Midland University. Concordia University's Calvin Zabloudil posted a 147 (+5) total to take ninth, while Southeast CC's Cael Peters rounded out the top 10 at 149 (+7).
Doane posted the best team round of the day, a 288 (+4), to move into second place as a team at 586 (+18). Southeast CC briefly held the lead in the final round, but finished third at 589 (+21).
The women's team race was not as close, with Doane finishing second at 654 (+86), and Concordia third at 667 (+99).
Wayne State filled up the women's top 10, with all five earning a medal. After Doane's Kaitlyn Dumler in third at 155 (+13), Wildcats Camryn Johnson and Saffire Sayre finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Johnson posted a 159 (+17) total, while Sayre, the first round leader, finished at 160 (+18). Another Wildcat, Erica Lee, tied for sixth at 162 (+20), along with Concordia's Emery Custer.
