Nebraska Senior Golf

Dear NSGA Members:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we sincerely thank each of you for a great 2007 Nebraska Senior Golf season. The NSGA had a great year, with a total of 1960 entries for our 17 events - an average of 115 players per event. 2008 promises to be another great season, as we have kept events at all of the great courses and made a few changes that we hope wiill enhance your participation and satisfaction.

We will begin the 2008 season at Shadow Ridge CC on April 28th, and we close our season with our two-day State Tournament at The Country Club of Lincoln on September 15 & 16. The 2008 season will also feature the return of the 2-day Western Event, with back-to-back playing days at Bayside Golf Course in Ogallala and Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg. Please link to the Events page on your left for a complete schedule of event locations and dates.

For the 2008 season, the Board has decided to increase the playing field for our events to 128 players (64 teams). We hope this change will allow more participation in our events while still enabling our members to complete their play in less than five hours.

Also for 2008, the Board has amended the entry procedure for events to be more equitable in how the events are filled. For those events that fill up within the first 10 days after booklets have been sent out, a random drawing will determine the field of 64 teams (and the standby list of 10 teams) for that event. A more detailed explanation will be mailed out with the Membership and Events booklet on April 1. Get your membership dues in now, so when you receive your booklet in April you and your playing partners can return your entries early.

The Board has also amended the cancellation fee for all events. It will now be $25.00 per player for any cancellation, regardless of the reason. If cancellation is made one week or more prior to the event, a full refund less the $25 per person will be given. Cancellations made four (4) days or less before an event will receive a 50% refund less the $25 per person; any cancellations made within 3 days of the event or less will not be given a refund (although the Tournament Director may make exceptions).

Our membership is always an issue, and we need your help to grow or maintain so we can continue to play amidst the finest courses in Central and Eastern Nebraska. Please ask someone to be a member this year. We will continue to honor members who recruit throughout the 2008 season during our State tournament in Lincoln this Fall.

Membership and Events booklets will be mailed out the beginning of April, so please prepart to get your entries in early, as we expect many of our events to fill quickly. Your Directors are looking forward to another great year, and look forward to seeing all of you in 2008.
