Meet the 2026 Interns

Five Interns in Boatwright Class of 2026

The 2026 NebGolf Interns have began work for the association. Thanks to funding from the USGA's P.J. Boatwright Internship Program, five interns will work this summer for NebGolf, including one for six months.

For 35 years, regional and state golf associations have partnered with the USGA to identify and develop talent working in the golf industry. Each year, interns gain paid, hands-on experience across a variety of functions – including championship setup and management, course rating, Handicapping and more – ultimately serving as staff members of the AGA.

This year's class includes general interns Sidney O'Dey of Hastings and Carter Friedrichsen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, as well as communications interns Camdyn Beirow of Doniphan, Jack Kohout of Omaha and Brent Henry of Wichita, Kansas. All are three month position, except Henry who is a six-month intern. Meet them below:


Sidney O’Dey

Sidney O’Dey is a Business Administration student at the University of Nebraska–Kearney with an emphasis in Marketing, along with minors in Sports Management and Professional Sales. Originally from Hastings, Nebraska, Sidney previously served as the Assistant Golf Shop Manager at Southern Hills Golf Course, where she helped oversee tournaments, leagues, and day-to-day operations. A former Nebraska Junior Golf Tour player, her passion for the game continues through both playing and working in golf operations. This summer, Sidney is excited to gain hands-on experience in championship administration while learning more about the role golf associations play in growing the game. Her long-term goal is to work in tournament operations or marketing at the PGA of America Headquarters.


Carter Friedrichsen

Carter Friedrichsen is from Council Bluffs, Iowa, and is currently studying Business Analytics at the University of Iowa. A passionate golfer and sports fan, Carter is eager to gain firsthand experience in the golf industry through this internship opportunity. He hopes to learn more about what goes into running successful tournaments while also exploring potential opportunities in sports analytics and golf operations. Carter is excited to grow his knowledge of the industry and take an important step toward a future career in sports.


Camdyn Beirow

Camdyn Beirow is a Communications Intern from Doniphan, Nebraska, currently studying Journalism with an emphasis in Sports Media Communications and Broadcast Production at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Camdyn has a strong passion for storytelling through media and hopes to create content that goes beyond simply documenting events by capturing meaningful stories and experiences. Outside of media work, he enjoys sports, video games, and watching UFC and MMA. This summer, Camdyn is looking forward to sharpening his skills in sports communications while helping showcase the people and moments that make Nebraska golf unique.


Jack Kohout

Jack Kohout is a junior at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln studying Sports Media and Communication along with Advertising and Public Relations, while also pursuing a minor in Business and Law. Originally from Omaha, Jack has worked in the golf industry since high school, beginning at the Field Club of Omaha before advancing into management roles within golf operations. Last summer, he served as the Assistant Director of Creative Media for the PGA Section of Nebraska, where he focused on creative content and storytelling. Outside of golf, Jack is heavily involved on campus and currently serves as president of the fraternity Council at UNL. Through this internship, he hopes to continue expanding his network, growing as a communicator, and sharing the stories of Nebraska golf with a wider audience.


Brent Henry

Brent Henry is originally from Wichita, Kansas, and currently attends the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he is double-majoring in PGA Golf Management and Advertising & Public Relations. Brent has previous experience working at both Rolling Hills Country Club and Indian Hills Country Club, helping him develop a strong appreciation for the game and the golf industry. Passionate about digital media and storytelling, Brent hopes to create engaging golf content that introduces more people to the sport. In addition to golf, he enjoys music, playing guitar and piano, and DJing in his free time. This summer, Brent looks forward to showcasing the stories, people, and courses that make Nebraska golf special while continuing to build his skills in sports media and communications.

NebGolf Internships

About NebGolf
The Nebraska Golf Association, founded in 1966, is comprised of all members of public and private clubs and/or municipal or regional golf associations which utilize an approved handicap service recognized by the USGA and provided by the NGA. Our mission is to uphold and promote the game of golf and its values to all golfers in Nebraska. Among the duties of the Association include governance of member clubs and service as their handicapping and course rating authority, conduct of state golf championships, local USGA qualifying & other notable competitions, promotion of junior golf, presentation of worthwhile educational programs and support of allied golf organizations in Nebraska. The Nebraska Golf Association is an Allied Golf Association of the USGA and carries out core services including Handicap Administration and Oversight, Course Rating, Rules of Golf and Rules of Amateur Status, Tournaments and USGA Championship Qualifiers and USGA Initiatives and Community Programs.
