Smith Qualifies for U.S. Senior Amateur
Qualifying Conducted on Tuesday at Fremont Golf Club
FREMONT (July 21, 2026) - Omaha's Kirby Smith advanced through qualifying for the 71st U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, posting the low round of the day at Fremont Golf Club on Tuesday.
Smith put together a round of 72 (+1) to take the lone qualifying spot. He birdied two of his last four holes to jump ahead of five players who finished a stroke behind. It is the first time qualifying for the championship for Smith.
Fremont's John Sajevic is the first alternate once again, after he and Omaha's Kirby Smith each shot rounds of 71 (-1). Sajevic won the playoff to take the first alternate spot, leaving Smith with as the second alternate.
Smith will play next at the 71st U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Baltimore Country Club, August 29-September 3.
