Matches conducted Tuesday at Lost Rail Golf Club
GRETNA (June 17, 2025) – The Amateurs reclaimed the Cup, winning the 53rd Nebraska Cup Matches on Tuesday at Lost Rail Golf Club in Gretna, 38.5-33.5.
The event annually pits the state’s best amateur golfers versus the state’s top professionals in both Four-Ball and Singles matches. The NebGolf Amateurs won for the first time since 2022, and just the second time in six years. The Nebraska PGA now leads the series 30-23. The Amateurs last won in 2022 at Omaha Country Club, and before that it was 2019 at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg.

One side from each team swept their match, with Bellevue's Matt Haynes and Lincoln's Ed Wyatt taking all six available points in the Nassau-scored matches, defeating Ted DiGiacomo of Happy Hollow Club and Brad Neunaber of Hidden Valley Golf Club. The Pros also swept a match, with Firethorn Golf Club's Brady Schnell and Happy Hollow Club's Ryan Vermeer taking all six points against Omaha's Luke Gutschewski and Table Rock's Calvin Freeman.

The seniors kicked off the move for the Amateurs, with the four golfers winning 11.5 of a possible 12 points. Wyatt was the only player on the team to earn all nine possible points in his matches.
Gretna's Brian Csipkes, Omaha's Kevin Sullivan, Omaha's Luke Gutschewski and Omaha's Bill Amundsen all took all three points in their Singles matches.
