Beatrice Country Club to Host 51st Nebraska Women's Amateur & 47th Nebraska Senior Women's Amateur
Championship Begins Tuesday in Beatrice
OMAHA (May 30, 2025) – Beatrice Country Club is preparing to host the upcoming 51st Nebraska Women’s Amateur Championship and 47th Nebraska Senior Women’s Amateur this week, June 3-5.
It will be a record fifth time hosting the Nebraska Women’s Amateur for the club, last hosting in 2018. The club hosted the Nebraska Women’s Senior Amateur once before in 2022, where Shelly Liddick won her third title in a row.
The Women's Amateur starts on Tuesday, with 54 holes of stroke play scheduled. Defending champion Katie Ruge of Omaha is the only previous champion among the 43 players in the field.
Ruge, a member of the Omaha women’s golf team, is looking to become the ninth player to go back-to-back, after winning her first title last year. She was also named the 2024 Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golfer of the Year, after sweeping both women's championships.
Ruge is paired with Husker golfer Eden Lohrbach of Ames, Iowa, and the 2021 Nebraska Girls' Amateur Champion Nicole Kolbas of Lincoln. Kolbas is now a member of the Nevada women's golf team. The three will tee off at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Three-time Nebraska Girls' Golfer of the Year, Julia Karmazin of Omaha, and her sister Emily are both playing in this year’s championship, with both of their pairings featuring Thiele sisters, Brooke and Lauren of Wahoo. Lauren is a two-time Nebraska Girls’ Match Play Champion, looking for her first Women’s Amateur win. She'll play alongside Emily Karmazin, and Omaha's Kaitlyn Hanna, the 2019 Nebraska Girls' Amateur Champion and 2022 Nebraska Girls' Match Play Champion.
Brooke Thiele finished runner-up at the Nebraska Women's Match Play last year, and she'll join Julia Karmazin, and Husker golfer Brooke Bream in the first round.
Last year's runner-up, Arden Louchheim, another Husker golfer, is teeing off with teammate Olivia Lovegrove of Lincoln. The two tee off at 10:20 a.m. with Omaha Maverick Elly Honnens of Lincoln, who was the Low Junior in 2024.
The Nebraska Women’s Senior Amateur also features notable talent, with four previous champions in the field of 19 players. That includes the defending champion, Jill Pilkington of Lincoln. The championship will be conducted over 36 holes of stroke play, starting on Wednesday and concluding on Thursday.
Pilkington is teeing off with Jane Pohlman of Omaha, who is tied for the third-most titles all-time, with five. The two are also paired with Nancy Pflug of Omaha, teeing off at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
Also playing is Susan Marchese of Omaha, who holds a record 26 NebGolf titles, including the second-most Women's Senior Amateur trophies, with eight. She's seeking her first win since 2018, and is paired with the 2023 Champion Anne Robertson of Columbus, and two-time Nebraska Women's Amateur Champion Steph Kolbas of Lincoln. Kolbas, the mother of Nicole, is competing in the championship for the first time.
The course at Beatrice Country Club is a par-72 course and will measure about 6,080 yards for the Women’s Amateur. The Senior Amateur field will play the course at about 4,977 yards.
Play begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday for the Women’s Amateur and the Senior Amateur on Wednesday. Pairings for the first round are available on the championship website below, along with the scoring pages and additional information.
