Parker and Jabenis Qualify for 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur

Qualifying Conducted on Monday at Lochland Country Club

HASTINGS (August 3, 2026) - Bret Parker of Alpine, Utah and Grant Jabenis of Omaha advanced through qualifying for the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Lochland Country Club on Monday.

Parker posted the low round of the day, a 65 (-7), to earn medalist honors and the first qualifying spot. He made five birdies, two eagles and a double-bogey during his round. Parker was the low score of the day by two strokes.

Jabenis, a former Husker, took the second qualifying spot with a round of 67 (-5). He closed strong on the front nine, his second nine, with four birdies for a 32 (-4). That gave him the second spot by one stroke. The 25-year-old will play in his first U.S. Mid-Amateur in the fall.

Rb Clyburn of Cartersville, Georgia is the first alternate, after a round of 68 (-4). Kevin Gillick, a Lincoln native who now lives in Rapid City, South Dakota, won a playoff to take the second alternate spot, after finishing in a three-way tie at 69 (-3).

Parker and Jabenis will play next at the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Sand Valley Resort in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, September 26-October 1. For more on the championship, visit usga.org.
