Sajevic Caps Incredible Year with Nebraska Mid-Amateur Win

Final Round Conducted Sunday at Lochland Country Club

HASTINGS (August 24, 2025) - Andy Sajevic of Omaha caught fire during the Final Round to win the 27th Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship at Lochland Country Club in Hastings on Sunday.

Sajevic came back with a round of 65 (-7) to win by one stroke with a 136 (-8) total. It's the second-lowest total in championship history, and his second Nebraska Mid-Amateur title. The win caps an incredible year by Sajevic, who won his third title of 2025.

It was a birdie-fest during the Final Round, as Sajevic opened with four-straight birdies to surge into the lead at 6-under. He started the day two strokes back, after a 71 (-1) in the first round.

A par on No. 5 was followed by yet another birdie on No. 6 by Sajevic, which got him to 6-under. He rolled in a downhill putt on No. 9 for one more birdie on the front nine, making the turn in 30 (-6).

Sajevic was still just clinging to the lead though, as several players were in red figures. Ralston's Peyton Koch, the first round co-leader, was nearly as hot on the front nine, making five birdies. He made the turn in 32 (-4), pulling even with Sajevic at 7-under.

The back nine brought even more fireworks, as Koch nearly chipped in on the par-5 10th, and tapped in for birdie to take the outright lead at 8-under. However, the lead switched hands again after Koch bogeyed No. 13, while Sajevic rolled in another birdie on No. 14 to get to 8-under.

However, the lead went back to Koch after Sajevic made double-bogey on the par-3 15th hole. It did not faze Sajevic though, as he rolled in a birdie putt on No. 17 to tie the lead once more, and converted an up-and-down on No. 18 for his ninth birdie of the round. That moved him to 8-under and gave him the clubhouse lead, which Koch could not match after his birdie putt slid by on the last hole.

Sajevic collected his third trophy of the year, which moved him to second all-time in NebGolf titles with 11 total. He's now just one behind his father, John Sajevic, who he won the Nebraska Four-Ball with in May.

Koch finished runner-up at 137 (-7) and was the only player to shoot two rounds in the 60s. His 68 (-4) on Sunday followed up the 69 (-3) that tied him for the lead after the first round.

Three-time champion Johnny Spellerberg of Bennington finished in a tie for third at 140 (-4) with Kearney's Tyler Ehresman. Spellerberg and Ehresman both shot rounds of 69 (-3) to moved into the top 5.

Four players tied for fifth at 141 (-3), including Omaha's Vance Janssen, Elkhorn's Austin Miller, Table Rock's Calvin Freeman and Omaha's Alex Kubik. All four broke par on Sunday, with Janssen tying for the second-lowest round of the day with Koch, a 68 (-4).

Hastings' own Josh Hinrichs put up a 69 (-3) to move into ninth at 142 (-2), while three-time champion Travis Minzel of Lincoln rounded out the Top 10 at 144 (E).
