Peterson Qualifies for 67th U.S. Senior Amateur

Michael Peterson of Lincoln qualified for the 67th U.S. Senior Amateur Championship today at Omaha's Oak Hills Country Club. Peterson's score of 73 (+2) was one shot better than Ed Wyatt of Lincoln and Matt Haynes of Bellevue who both posted 74 (+3). Haynes secured the first alternate spot after a three hole playoff with Wyatt, who is the site's second alternate. Peterson will compete next at the national championship hosted by The Kittansett Club in Marion, Massachusetts, August 27-September 1. Eligibility

Entries are open to amateur golfers who will have reached their fifty-fifth birthday by August 27, 2022 and have an up-to-date Handicap Index® based on ratings for men not exceeding 7.4 under the Rules of Handicapping. A current Handicap ID number (GHIN) issued through an authorized golf club is required and must be submitted on the entry form.

Amateur Status: All amateur players must conform to the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by the United States Golf Association and The R&A.

Completion of Play: If a player fails to return a scorecard (“no card”), future entries may be declined if documentation is not provided demonstrating that the player is capable of competing at the national championship level.

Withdrawal from Qualifying: Players can withdraw by logging into their account and clicking on the WITHDRAW tab. They must also the Official in Charge prior to their scheduled Qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future USGA competitions.

 

Entry Fee

Entry fee of $180 must be paid by every player. Players who withdraw prior to close of entries will receive a refund less a service charge. Players can withdraw by logging into their account and clicking on the WITHDRAW tab. Players who withdraw prior to the close of entries will receive a refund of $135. Players who withdraw after the close of entries and prior to 48-hours of the qualifier will receive a $90 refund. Players who withdraw within 48 hours of the qualifier or after will not receive a refund.

 

Closing Date

ENTRY APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY USGA NO LATER THAN 4 P.M. C.D.T. on WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2022. Late applications are not acceptable and will be automatically rejected. (Entries by telephone, telegraph, mail or FAX are not acceptable.) Time limit for entries means time of receipt at USGA (not time entry is transmitted to USGA). Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and the USGA will have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of the entry.

 

Format

Qualifying: 18-holes, at stroke play.

 

Prizes

Qualifying: Silver medal awarded to lowest score; if a tie, duplicate medals will be awarded.

 

Score Posting

The NGA will post Stroke Play scores for all competitors in the field who have a Handicap Index® issued by the USGA.

Qualifying Places
25 golfers will be competing for one spot in the national championship and two alternate positions. A tie for the qualifier's place, or any alternate's place will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off.

Practice Rounds
A practice round is available at a time convenient to Oak Hills Country Club within two weeks of the qualifier. The rate is $45 (includes cart). If desired, those entered may contact the golf shop at (402) 895-4383 to make arrangements.

Because of the large number of lodging options available in Omaha there are no hotel arrangements made for this qualifier.
