OMAHA (August 2, 2022) –  Lincoln's Michael Peterson secured a spot in the 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship on Tuesday through qualifying at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha.

Peterson shot the low round of the day, a 73 (+2), to earn medalist honors and the lone qualifying spot. It's the first time qualifying for the championship for Peterson.

Two other players finished a stroke back at 74 (+3), Bellevue's Matt Haynes and Lincoln's Ed Wyatt. Following a playoff, Haynes is the first alternate, while Wyatt is the second alternate.

Peterson advances to the 67th U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at The Kittansett Club in Marion, Massachusetts, August 27-September 1, 2022.
