Sajevics Make History Again, Win Nebraska Four-Ball
Championship Conducted Friday and Saturday at The Prairie Club
VALENTINE (May 10, 2025) - A legendary father-son duo added another trophy to their collection, as John Sajevic of Fremont and Andy Sajevic of Omaha won the 24th Nebraska Four-Ball Championship on Saturday at The Prairie Club in Valentine.
The Sajevics matched the championship record during the first round with a 62 (-11) on The Dunes Course, and followed up with a final round 66 (-7) to win by a stroke at 128 (-18). It's their first title together, but Andy now owns nine overall NebGolf titles (T-4 all-time) and John extends his record to 12 titles.
It's also a fourth Nebraska Four-Ball trophy for John, who won three times with Lincoln's Knox Jones. Andy is a Four-Ball Champion for the first time, which gives him the NebGolf "Career Grand Slam." He's won every championship for which he's been eligible, including the Nebraska Amateur, Nebraska Match Play, Nebraska Mid-Amateur, Nebraska Junior Amateur, Nebraska Junior Match Play and now the Nebraska Four-Ball. He joins Elkhorn's Ryan Nietfeldt as the only players to accomplish the feat.
Playing the course for the first time this week, Andy put on a show during the first round. He made nine birdies and an eagle to vault the Sajevics into the lead with a record-tying 11-under round. They led by two strokes over two teams at 9-under.
The Final Round started slow for the Sajevics, who lost their lead after turning in 34 (-2). However, that's when Andy caught fire once again. He played the next three holes in 5-under, making eagles on the par-5 10th and 12th, and a birdie on the short par-4 11th. They took the lead back at 18-under.
Andy nearly birdie the next three holes as well, but pars kept them one stroke ahead of Creighton golfers Grant Feldman and Owen Price. John maintained the lead with clutch par putts on Nos. 16 and 17, before sticking his approach shot close on the 18th. After Feldman and Price narrowly missed birdie tries, a par was all that was needed for the Sajevics to secure the title.
The 18-under total was one stroke off the championship record as well, and is the second-lowest total all-time.
Feldman and Price finished runner-up at 129 (-17) with their Final Round 65 (-8). Elkhorn's Daniel Huston and Omaha's Matthew Quandt took third at 132 (-14) after a second-straight round of 66 (-7).
The two-time defending champions made a run, as Elkhorn's Austin Miller and Bennington's Johnny Spellerberg surged into the lead after starting 10-under through 15 holes. A bogey on the 18th dropped them back, but the 64 (-9) was the low round of the day, and they tied for fourth with four other teams.
The group tied for fourth at 133 (-13) also included Christopher Atkinson and Nolan Johnson of Gretna, AJ Elgert and Michael Peterson Lincoln, Will Hagel of Omaha and Justin Hamilton of La Vista, and Glenn Bills of Bennington and Michael Croker of Gretna.
