Sajevic Caps Historic Year with Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year Award

Five-Time Nebraska Amateur Champion Wins Fourth Award

OMAHA (November 14, 2025) - The Nebraska Golf Association is proud to announce the selection of Elkhorn's Andy Sajevic as the 2025 Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year presented by SWAG for a fourth time.

Sajevic, a Fremont native, made history again in 2025, adding significantly to his trophy shelf. He played in just four point events this season, and won three of them. Three more NebGolf trophies moved him into second all-time, just behind his father, John, whom he share one of those titles with this year.

A fourth Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year moves Sajevic into a tie for second all-time. Only two other players have won at least four awards. Friend's David Clouse owns four awards, while Lincoln's Larry Sock holds the record with five.

Sajevic put on a show to kickoff the year at the 24th Nebraska Four-Ball Championship at The Prairie Club in Valentine. It was the first time he had ever seen The Dunes Course, and he blistered it for nine birdies and an eagle in the first round. He and his father matched the championship record with an 11-under round of 62 to take the lead. Sajevic made two more eagles on the back nine during the Final Round to help secure the title with a 130 (-18) total, one off the championship record.

The Four-Ball win was the Sajevics' first together, and gave Andy the NebGolf "Career Grand Slam." He's won every championship for which he's been eligible, including the Nebraska Amateur, Nebraska Match Play, Nebraska Mid-Amateur, Nebraska Junior Amateur, Nebraska Junior Match Play and now the Nebraska Four-Ball. He joins Elkhorn's Ryan Nietfeldt as the only players to win all of those titles.

Sajevic was just getting started though, as he eyed a special title at the 117th Nebraska Amateur Championship at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn in June. He opened with a pair of 69s (-3) to take the lead, and battled through several weather suspensions to cruise to the title. Sajevic went wire-to-wire with fourth-straight rounds in red figures to win his fifth title. His 280 (-8) total gave him a four-stroke win and he became the fourth player to win at least five times, and the first in more than 60 years. He joins Omaha's Bob Astleford, who won his fifth of eight titles in 1964, Sam Reynolds (7) and Rod Bliss Jr. (6).

History kept coming though, as a month later, Sajevic caught fire once again at the 27th Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship at Lochland Country Club in Hastings. He trailed by two strokes after a first round 71 (-1), but wasted no time in making a Final Round move. Sajevic birdied five of the first six holes, and made the turn in 30 (-6). A birdie-birdie finish closed out a round of 65 (-7) for him, and a one-stroke victory with a 136 (-8) total.

It was Sajevic's second Nebraska Mid-Amateur title, and his third trophy of the season pushed him to 11 all-time. He only trails his father, John, who won his 12th with Andy at the Nebraska Four-Ball.

In addition, Sajevic finished runner-up at the Indian Creek Invitational with a 138 (-6) total. He was just a stroke back of Husker golfer Rudy Sautron, who put together a 65 (-7) to win at 137 (-7).

Sajevic will be honored at the Nebraska Golf Association's Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, November 21 at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln (Tickets can be purchased here). In addition, NebGolf will recognize its Women's Amateur Golfer of the Year, Senior Amateur Golfer of the Year, Junior Amateur Golfer of the Year and Girls' Amateur Golfer of the Year.
