Back at the Creek for the 117th Nebraska Amateur
Championship Begins Monday at The Club at Indian Creek
OMAHA (June 18, 2025) - The 117th Nebraska Amateur, the state’s oldest championship, returns to The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn this week, June 23-26, with a full field of 156 players.
Indian Creek has hosted the championship twice before, most recently in 2015, when Rylee Reinertson of Gibbon birdied the 72nd hole to claim the title with a 286 (-2) total. Husker golfer Brady Schnell also won a title at the club in 2006, winning by an impressive nine strokes at 12-under.
This year, the field of 156 includes a few previous champions, including the defending champion Reed Malleck of York, who broke through for his first title at Fremont Golf Club, and his second overall NebGolf trophy. The former Husker golfer is paired with Omaha's Sam Vocelka and Vance Janssen for the first two rounds, with an 8 a.m. starting time on Monday off No. 1.
Four-time Champion Andy Sajevic of Omaha is back to compete for the third time in a Nebraska Amateur at Indian Creek, one of a handful of players to do so. He finished tied for 21st in 2006 and tied for 41st in 2015. He won his titles in 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2020, and is tied for fourth for the most all-time. Most recently, Sajevic made history winning the 24th Nebraska Four-Ball Championship with his father in May, adding to his total NebGolf titles, to which he now has nine.
Sajevic is paired with Husker golfer Rudy Sautron of France, who currently leads NebGolf's SWAG Point Standings, and Omaha's Luke Gutschewski, the 2022 Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year. They'll tee it up at 2:30 p.m. off No. 1 on Monday.
Lincoln's David Easley, the 2021 Champion, was the 36-hole leader in 2015 at Indian Creek, but fell off the pace in the final two rounds to finish tied for 16th. He'll play alongside Omaha's Mike Siwa, and the 2025 Nebraska Junior Amateur Champion, Jaxson Hinze of Waco. Hinze recently won the title in a playoff at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney, and leads the SWAG Junior Point Standings by a healthy margin.
The 2002 Champion Ryan Nietfeldt of Elkhorn is also in the field. He's currently second behind Sautron in the SWAG Point Standings, after winning the Fremont Invitational. Nietfeldt is paired with Husker golfer Hamish Murray, who finished runner-up last year, and Omaha's Tommy Kelley.
Husker golfer Evan McDermott, who finished third last year, and Ashland's Coltrane Mittag, who was fourth and the Low Junior, are both back to compete in 2025.
The Black Bird to Gray Hawk routing will be used for the championship for the second time. The par-72 course measures about 7,214 yds for the championship.
Play begins at 8 a.m. off both Nos. 1 and 10 tees on Monday and Tuesday, after which the field will be cut to the low 60 scores and ties for Wednesday's and Thursday's rounds.
Groupings and starting times for the first two rounds are available on the championship website, along with the scoring page and additional information.
