Kelley, Thiele Complete Record-Setting Wins at Oakland Golf Club

OAKLAND (June 10, 2026) – It was a record-setting week at Oakland Golf Club, as Omaha's Tommy Kelley caught fire to win the 59th Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship and Wahoo's Brooke Thiele went wire-to-wire to repeat at the 26th Nebraska Girls' Amateur Championship on Wednesday.
The two champions, both Husker golf commits, each set several scoring records, including shattering the lowest 54-hole totals. Kelley's 202 (-14) total bested the previous record by 5 strokes, while Thiele was 12 strokes better than her own record total last year with a 210 (-6).
Kelley was two strokes off the lead heading into the Final Round. Starting on No. 10, and propelled by an impressive birdie-eagle combo on Nos. 11 and 12, Kelley leapt into the lead early. He was able to carry momentum through the rest of the round to pull away from competition. Kelley's final round 66 (-6) gave him the win by one stroke.
Jaxson Hinze of Waco, the 2025 Champion, was three shots back to start the day, which put him and Kelley in a prime spot to battle for the lead after the day-two leaders struggled in the final round. His bogey-free final round total of 66 (-6) matched Kelley, and included a stretch of four birdies over the first six holes of the front nine, his second nine. He finished one-stroke shy of Kelley at 203 (-13), earning runner-up honors.

Both Kim and Jorgensen made a run at Thiele during the final round, with the leader making four-straight bogeys on the front nine. However, Thiele came up clutch on the back nine, securing the win with closing 33 (-3).
