Meuret/Meuret and Wilhelm/Woodhead Qualify for U.S. Amateur Four-Ball

Qualifying Conducted on Tuesday at Wild Horse Golf Club

GOTHENBURG (October 1, 2024) - Matt Meuret of Brunswick, Nebraska and Sam Meuret of Waukee, Iowa earned medalist honors and along with Michael Wilhelm of Omaha and Danny Woodhead of Elkhorn advanced through qualifying for the 10th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg on Tuesday.

The Meuret brothers are headed to the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball for the second-straight year after a round of 66 (-6), which earned them medalist honors and the first qualifying spot. The Brunswick natives played in the championship earlier this year for the first time.

Wilhelm and Woodhead are also headed to the championship for the second time. They earned their spot through a playoff, after finishing tied with four other sides at 67 (-5). The 5-for-1 playoff went to the par-4 10th, and Woodhead was the only player to make par, earning him and Wilhelm the second qualifying spot. They also qualified and played in the 2021 championship at Chambers Bay in Washington.

North Platte's Sean O'Neill and Aurora, Colorado's Shane O'Connor, a North Platte native, took the first alternate spot after the fourth playoff hole, also shooting 67 (-5). They took the spot over Michael Tait and Marcus Tait of Littleton, Colorado, who are the second alternates. Marshal Lamb of Bettendorf, Iowa and Samuel DeBartolo of Urbandale, Iowa along with Tom Carlson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Chris Long of Presho, South Dakota also shot rounds of 67 (-5), before falling early in the playoff.

The Meurets and Wilhelm/Woodhead will play next at the 10th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey, May 17-21, 2025.
