Christiansen Comes Back to Win 27th Nebraska Senior Amateur

Final Round Conducted Friday at Landmand Golf Club

HOMER (June 20, 2025) - Randy Christiansen of Yutan completed the largest Final Round comeback to win the 27th Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship at Landmand Golf Club on Friday.

Christiansen entered the Final Round trailing by nine strokes, and was one of two players to break 80 on a windy and hot day. He posted the low round of the day by five strokes, a 74 (+1), to complete the comeback and win by two strokes with at 156 (+10) total.

The wind howled and scores soar during the Final Round. Lincoln's Jayson Brueggemann started the day with the lead after a first round 73 (E), but lost his lead on the difficult front nine loop into the wind.

Christiansen started a full hour before the last group, and after battling through the front nine, he caught fire on the mostly downwind back nine. He birdied three of the first four holes on the back nine to surge up the leaderboard. A closing birdie on the par-5 18th hole gave Christiansen a back nine 35 (-2).

Lincoln's Ed Wyatt, a two-time Champion, was one of several players who were in contention. However, he did not make a birdie during the round, and an eagle chip to force a playoff on the final hole came up short. Wyatt finished runner-up with a 158 (+12) total after a round of 83 (+10).

Brian Csipkes of Gretna, the 2022 Champion, finished tied for third with Omaha's Patrick Duffy and Brueggemann at 160 (+14). Elkhorn's David Allen was sixth at 162 (+16), while two-time Champion Mike Krumland of Columbus and Jeff Russell of Elkhorn tied for seventh at 163 (+17).

Omaha's Kevin Sullivan finished ninth at 164 (+18), and three players tied for 10th to round out the Top 10. Omaha's Pete Alvestad, Oakland's Nathan Anderson and Elkhorn's Brad Cavitt all finished at 165 (+19).

Christiansen also won the 50-57 Age Division, while Wyatt won the 58-64 Age Division. Lincoln's Larry Sock won the 65-71 Age Division, and Grand Island's J.J. Green took the 72 & Over Division.
