Thiele is Nebraska Women's Amateur Golfer of the Year
Husker Earns First Postseason Award
OMAHA (November 13, 2025) - The Nebraska Golf Association is proud to announce the selection of Wahoo's Lauren Thiele as the 2025 Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golfer of the Year presented by SWAG.
Thiele, a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School, won her third NebGolf title this summer, but secured her first postseason award by winning the women's points race. She's the second Thiele to win the award, joining her sister, Hannah, who won in 2016.

It was a grind for Thiele to earn her third NebGolf title this summer, as she went through a gauntlet at the 102nd Nebraska Women's Match Play Championship at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln. After earning the No. 17 seed, Thiele faced her first battle against three-time Nebraska Girls' Golfer of the Year Julia Karmazin of Omaha. Thiele birdied the first extra hole to win the match in 19 holes. In the Quarterfinals, she faced Julia's sister, Emily Karmazin, and again went extra holes. This time Thiele made a clutch up-and-down for par to win in 21 holes.
That was just the beginning though, as Thiele had to take on Husker teammates in her final two matches. In the Semifinals, she trailed almost the entire match against Lincoln's Olivia Lovegrove, but birdied the last two holes to flip the script and win, 1 up. Thiele did much of the same in the Final against another Husker teammate, Brooke Bream, falling behind early. She made a back nine charge though, winning four of five holes at one point, and eventually closing out the match and the title, 1 up.
Thiele joined her sisters Lindsey (2023) and Hannah (2016) as Nebraska Women's Match Play Champions.
In addition to her win, Thiele finished eighth at the 51st Nebraska Women's Amateur Championship at Beatrice Country Club in June. She fired rounds of 75 (+3), 78 (+6) and 78 (+6) to finish with a 231 (+15) total. Thiele also finished 14th at the Prairie Invitational in Kansas.
Thiele will be honored at the Nebraska Golf Association's Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, November 21 at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln (Tickets can be purchased here). In addition, NebGolf will recognize its Amateur Golfer of the Year, Senior Amateur Golfer of the Year, Junior Amateur Golfer of the Year and Girls' Amateur Golfer of the Year.
