Brooke Thiele Takes Lead at 52nd Nebraska Women's Amateur
First Round Conducted Tuesday at Lochland Country Club
OMAHA (June 2, 2026) – Junior golfer Brooke Thiele of Wahoo leads the field in the 52nd Nebraska Women’s Amateur Championship after carding a 70 (-2) at Lochland Country Club in Hastings on Tuesday.
Jill Pilkington of Lincoln stands at the top of the 48th Nebraska Women’s Senior Amateur field after posting a 74 (+2), a round that included five birdies.
Thiele, a rising senior at Bishop-Newman, finished her round with five total birdies, with four of them coming on the front nine. The 2025 Nebraska Girls' Amateur Champion is just one of two players in red figures.
Behind Thiele sits another Brooke, Brooke Bream. Bream, who wrapped up her collegiate career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, carded a 71 (-1) to sit alone in second place, one shot behind Thiele.
Five golfers sit tied at third place with a score of 74 (+2), those being Omaha graduate Katie Ruge, rising Creighton sophomore Madison Murnan, sisters Julia and Emily Karmazin, and Wayne State’s Erica Lee.
Other notable standings include rising Creighton senior Karsen Morrison of North Platte (8th), defending Women’s Amateur champion Eden Lohrbach of Lincoln (T11), and three-time Women’s Amateur champion JC Weaver of Hastings (T18).
On the Senior side, Pilkington , the 2024 Champion, leads the field after putting together an impressive card which included three birdies on the back nine, and five total. Pilkington’s 74 (+2) puts her three shots ahead of second place.
Stephanie Kolbas, a two-time Nebraska Women's Amateur Champion, had finished her front nine with a 40 (+4), but put together a back nine that had only one bogey on the card, finishing with a 77 (+5).
Rounding out the top three for the seniors is Nancy Pflug of Omaha in third with a 79 (+7). Tied for fourth is Anne Robertson of Columbus, the defending champion, and Miae Hatfield of Elkhorn at 82 (+10).
